Signs Chicago–based Band, Blacktop Mourning and New York MC, Notar

February 16, 2007 – Counting Crows lead singer and Oscar-nominated songwriter, Adam Duritz, ventures into the label side of the music business with the launch of Tyrannosaurus Records (T-Recs). Starting a new label was not on Duritz’s to-do list, especially while he was busy writing new material and laying tracks for Counting Crows upcoming record (being recorded in NYC as we speak). But a trip to MySpace.com changed all that when he discovered two exceptional artists, Notar and Blacktop Mourning.

According to Duritz, “The talent of Notar and Blacktop Mourning just blew me away and I wanted to be a part of their evolution. But I know that when you start a label you’re responsible for the hopes and dreams of the artists you sign and that’s a big deal to me. We’re here to create a partnership with our artists, help them create great music and navigate the treacherous waters of the music business. Simple as that.”

“My vision for T-Recs is an intimate boutique label,” continues Duritz. “We’re in the studio with the bands, talking to them constantly about their careers and their music. We handle everything in-house and we’re taking on a very limited number of artists so that each band gets personal attention.”

There was once a story was told of an underdog that would later be King of a great country. What makes this story interesting is that the underdog was a boy, who took on a giant with no chance of winning, yet somehow triumphed over the giant. As fate would have it, a modern day underdog again has arisen to challenge the giants of this era. This underdog is called Ragtube.com, a start-up, video-share, site-managed and ran by a 25 year old University of Oklahoma graduate named George R., which promotes Independent (Indie) Artists.

At first glance Ragtube.com is like any other video-share site, but if you look a little closer you’ll notice that none of the artists are head-line names. As a matter-fact, out of the 3500 plus artists on Ragtube.com, 99% are Indie Artists. These artists range in genre from Hip-Hop to Rock, Metal and R&B, a number of musicians playing everything from the saxophone to the keys. Some of these artists have enormous talent, while others could use more practice.

We asked George R. what makes Ragtube.com different from any other video-share site, and he responded with his business model, “Everyone deserves to be heard, regardless of their level of talent. For some of these artists, being able to have their music heard outside of their shower, garage or local environment will be the highlight of their musical career.”

Given the success that Ragtube has established to date, we believe it has one of the most attractive and unique concepts around. When asked about the future of Ragtube.com, we were told that the company plans to attract over 20,000 Indie Artist over the next two years--affording them the opportunity to be heard.
